For a long time it has been quite difficult to acquire a piece by Kumano unless you made your way to visit the man on the far side of Japan, or happened to be in Osaka or Tokyo the week of his annual shows in those cities. The main reason is the very small output of each firing combined with Kumano's extremely high standards as to what he is willing to sell. This left precious few pieces each year that were not specifically earmarked for exhibitions.
We are happy to announce that Kumano has once again made available to this site a very special selection of pieces... all at "atelier prices." Most come from his latest firing, and included are a few that he considers particularly rare and exceptional (meihin in Japanese). We hope you like them, and look forward to your reaction.
